Access to qualified care and vision insurance are vital to ensure eye health and safety. Preventive eye care should not be a separate insurance benefit, and should be made mandatory in all health plans.
A recent NIH study demonstrated that those with vision insurance were more likely to have had eye care visits than those without insurance.
